This rectangular lantern has a black metal frame and a frosted glass panel that softens the light, so it glows rather than glares. It runs entirely on solar power: a panel on top charges a built-in battery during the day, and the light switches on by itself at dusk. There are no cables to run and nothing to plug in.

Use the small size on a step or tabletop, the medium on a porch or beside a door, and the large as a floor lantern by a path or entrance.

Getting the best runtime

Place the lantern where the panel gets 6–8 hours of direct sun a day. Before first use, leave it switched on in full sun for a day or two so the battery charges completely. Runtime will be shorter after cloudy days and in winter, which is normal for solar lights. If you're lining a path, spacing lanterns about 6–8 ft apart gives a continuous glow.

Care

Wipe the solar panel with a damp cloth every few weeks, since dust and pollen reduce charging. The rechargeable battery typically lasts 1–2 years; replacing it brings the runtime back to normal.

Questions

How long does it stay lit?
After a full sunny day it will usually glow for several hours after dusk. Expect less after overcast days.

Can I use it under a covered porch?
Only if the panel still gets direct sunlight. Under a roof it won't charge properly.

Does the remote work with the warm-light version?
No. The remote comes with the tri-colour version only.
